A Short Break (until 16.5)

A small note to my readers.

After a rather dense stretch of writing, it feels like the right moment to step back for a while. We’ll be heading south for a longer break — sunshine, slower days, and a bit of distance from the desk. Science can wait; good weather rarely does.

During this pause, I’ll also be working quietly on the second edition of The Second Silicon Winter. Some of you will remember that the first edition kept the chapter on global conditions deliberately short. The semiconductor world, however, is inseparable from the wider environment in which it operates, and it seemed sensible to revisit that part with a little more care.

A few recent posts touched on global dynamics. This wasn’t out of any particular interest in politics — it’s simply that the semiconductor supply chain is a layered system, and our usual analytical tools apply naturally to it. Readers familiar with the framework will have recognised the same structural lens being used, just in a different domain.

For now, though, it’s time for a pause. A bit of sun, a bit of reading, and perhaps a clearer head for the next round of writing.
